In 1962, Pierre Perrault, Michel Brault, and Marcel Carrière turned their camera and microphone toward a small island carrying an entire mythology: L’Isle-aux-Coudres. Legend has it that it was from this encounter between islanders and poets that documentary cinema was born… and, in many ways, Québec’s sense of identity as well. It is therefore no exaggeration to say that here, documentary and identity go hand in hand!
