Synopsis
Tungrus is a short documentary that observes a week in the peculiar lives of a middle-class household in Mumbai, which turns topsy-turvy when the eccentric patriarch brings home a baby chick for his cats to play with.
A word from Tënk
The addition of a new family member can be a source of great joy, or “pure hell,” as one of the protagonists of Tungrus puts it. After all, the family’s new pet is only doing his job as a rooster, meaning that he tries to dominate the entire household―cats and humans alike! He reigns over the family as if he knows deep down that he won’t have the upper hand in the end. This début film from Mumbai filmmaker Rishi Chandna impressed us with its simplicity and effectiveness.
