Synopsis
A child raised in the mountains yearns to grasp reality. The inner and outer world get blurred in his mind as he evokes his obsessions and captures his surroundings with a camera.
A word from Tënk
This tour de force, directed by Federico Luis and Rita Pauls, immerses us in the frenetic perspective of a child — and more precisely, of this particular child. The energetic and stimulating fragments on screen make us feel emotions as if they were moving impressionist paintings. The framing, editing, lighting, and all visual elements converge toward a single goal: to let us experience the child’s thoughts at the depth of their psyche. This life unfolds before our eyes, yet it is never superficial or empty. The film is a magnificent exploration of curiosity in its broadest sense: curiosity about facts, about unspoken things, and even curiosity about fear and what draws us toward so-called negative emotions. The child’s fleeting reflections confront us with the transience of our lives, both in an existential sense and in the sudden impulses to change games or activities. In En el mismísimo momento, the meticulous balance of form and content showcases the remarkable talent and cinematic rigor of the filmmaking duo Luis and Pauls.
