Synopsis

Through the eyes of photographer Marius Jomphe, four local historians and several contemporary “stranded men” of Gaspé, The Land of Shipwrecks paint a portrait of this “city at the end of the world” that has preserved its essence through the ages: A place where nature is full of mystery, the sea evokes dizziness, and where shipwreck remains a mode of settlement.

A word from Tënk

A beautiful historical and poetic portrait of Gaspé that showcases the work of photographer Marius Jomphe. Director Jean-François Aubé, who is also an author and playwright, signs here a love letter to the town of Gaspé and skilfully uses the history of shipwrecks to meet modern-day castaways who have anchored themselves in the town. A film filled with fog, salty air and enchanting nature that makes you want to run aground on the Gaspé Peninsula.
