Synopsis
Le roi du drum tells the story of a beloved folk hero from Montreal’s East End: Guy Nadon, a gifted self-taught jazz musician whose only misfortune was being born in Quebec in the 1930s. A marginalized artist—often misunderstood and seldom supported—Nadon never stopped nurturing his boundless imagination as a percussionist and performer, all while remaining deeply rooted in his neighbourhood. Defying categorization, this deeply human portrait is crafted with the precision of a fiction film and infused with the same exuberance as its subject. It is also a film about Montreal’s East End—about its ordinary, sincere people, sustained by hope.
