Synopsis

Never Silent Again is a minimalist documentary art work centered on the liberation of speech and listening. The project is inspired by the role played by social media in the #MeToo movement.  Powerful weapons against the culture of silence, these media reveal voices that have remained muted or stifled for a long time, expressing an impressive amount of anger and desires. In this vein, this film contributes to the liberation of the voices and faces of 19 female collaborators of various origins and ages. Divided into four chapters, the arrangement of voices and faces creates a cumulative, immersive, powerful and sisterly narrative that encourages exploration of one’s own interiority, vulnerability and confusion.

A word from Tënk

Among the nineteen voices that caroline pierret pirson has brought together in this film, one of them compares the liberation of speech sparked by the #MeToo movement to a forest fire: "We start speaking, we can't stop anymore; we start recognizing each other, we can't stop anymore; we start healing, we can't stop anymore." It is these flames that the filmmaker's camera and microphone capture, immersing us in the active listening of their experiences of patriarchal violence. Inspired by Chantal Akerman's cinematic approach, which through her slow observation of things manages to grasp the inner whispers of her characters, the director of Never Silent Again makes us hear what has long been silenced by shame, loneliness, and fear.

A project of crucial importance for the current feminist movement, which testifies to the importance of listening in the creation of solidarity.

It is with great joy that I, in turn, handed the microphone to caroline pierret pirson, as part of the fourth season of my podcast Les Impostures. She shared with a particular sensitivity her own experience of patriarchy, the deep motivations behind this creative work, and the artistic process that gave birth to her work. I hope to have honored the fire that drives her.
